Terms of Service
Welcome to Odatap. These terms explain, in plain language, what you agree to when you use the Odatap marketplace — the Odatap Hub app and website (hub.odatap.com), the Odatap Business app, and the Odatap Driver app (together, “Odatap” or “the platform”). By creating an account or placing an order on Odatap, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform.
1. What Odatap is
Odatap is a marketplace operating in Uganda. It connects customers with independent businesses (restaurants, grocers, hotels, suppliers and others), with delivery drivers, and with employers offering jobs. Odatap is the platform in the middle: unless we clearly say otherwise, the food, goods, rooms and services you buy are supplied by the listed business, and deliveries are carried out by independent drivers.
2. Your account
- You sign up with your phone number, your name and a password. Keep your password private — you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must give accurate information, including a working phone number, so businesses and drivers can reach you about your orders.
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, or use the platform with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
- We may suspend or close accounts used for fraud, abuse of other users, drivers or businesses, or activity that breaks the law.
3. Orders and prices
- All prices on Odatap are in Ugandan Shillings (UGX). The total you see at checkout — item prices, any delivery fee and any other charge — is the total you pay.
- When you place an order, the business confirms it. Preparation and delivery times shown in the app are estimates, not guarantees.
- If a business cannot fulfil part of your order, you will be contacted and the order adjusted or cancelled.
4. Payments
- You can pay with mobile money (MTN MoMo or Airtel Money), or with cash on delivery where the option is shown.
- Refunds for failed or cancelled paid orders are returned to the payment method you used, as shown in the app at the time.
5. Deliveries
- Deliveries are performed by independent drivers registered on the Odatap Driver app. You can track your order live in the app.
- Be reachable on the phone number on your account — drivers may call to confirm your exact location.
- If an order arrives damaged, incomplete or wrong, report it through the app as soon as possible so it can be investigated and resolved.
6. For businesses
- Listing a business on Odatap is free. Taking customer orders through the marketplace requires a one-time unlock fee of UGX 350,000 (UGX 300,000 with an affiliate code). After the unlock, Odatap charges a commission on completed marketplace orders. The commission rate applicable to your business is shown in Odatap Business before you go public, and in your order records. There are no monthly fees and no subscription.
- Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of their menus, product listings, prices and stock, for the quality and safety of what they sell, and for complying with the laws and licences that apply to their trade.
- Odatap may remove listings or suspend business accounts that break these terms, mislead customers, or attract repeated verified complaints.
7. For drivers
- Joining as a driver is free — Odatap charges drivers no registration or membership fees.
- Drivers are independent: they choose when to be available and which deliveries to accept, and they are responsible for their own vehicle, licences and road-safety compliance.
- Driver earnings are paid to MTN MoMo or Airtel Money.
8. Jobs and affiliates
- The jobs platform connects job seekers with employers. Odatap is not the employer for roles posted by businesses and does not guarantee any hiring outcome.
- The affiliate program pays a commission when a business you referred completes its marketplace unlock. Affiliate fraud — fake referrals, self-referrals, or manipulation of codes — leads to forfeited commissions and account closure.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use Odatap to break the law, to harass or defraud others, to post false reviews, to interfere with the platform's operation, or to attempt to access other people's accounts or data. We may remove content and restrict accounts to protect users and the platform.
10. Odatap's responsibility
We work hard to keep the platform available, accurate and safe, but Odatap is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by the laws of Uganda, Odatap is not liable for losses caused by businesses' products or services, by drivers' acts, by events outside our reasonable control, or by indirect losses. Nothing in these terms removes rights that Ugandan consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform grows. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Odatap after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Questions about these terms can be sent to us through the Odatap app.
